Serena is Maisie's best friend. They're perfect friends, although they're polar opposites. Serena has always supported Maisie's running, although Serena thinks running is dumb. Maisie always helps Serena with schoolwork, since Serena focuses more on boys than grades. Serena helps Maisie through the difficult times after her surgery and is one of the only people who will be honest with her. Serena is one of the most beautiful and popular girls at school.

Chirag was Maisie's boyfriend. He's the perfect gentleman, serene and serious, even in the most stressful of situations. He ran with Maisie and was always there to help her when they were together. Although after Maisie's accident, Chirag knows they won't last, he still cares for her and talks to her, and he tries to be honest and help her through her struggles.

Maisie is the main character of Faceless. Maisie was a junior that loved running, her best friend, and her boyfriend. One morning, Maisie sets out for an early run. She ignores the warnings for rain and storms and puts herself in danger. Maisie gets trapped in an electrical fire and part of her face is burned off. When Maisie wakes up at the hospital, she is told that she will be receiving a face transplant, or a partial replacement. Maisie now has to return to her normal life and will go through many struggles along the way.

Maisie's mom is a lawyer and an amazing one to say the least. She is serious all the time, and her work carries over into her home life. She is strict with Maisie, and sometime they can both get fed up with each other. Although Maisie's mom seems uptight and mean, she is just concerned for her daughter. She wants to be there for Maisie, and she just wishes that their
perfect relationship from when Maisie was younger had lasted a little while longer.

Maisie's dad tries to help Maisie constantly, but sometimes their relationship is interrupted by his and Maisie's mom's constant fighting. Maisie's dad just wants
his daughter back; he wants sweet, happy, cuddly Maisie to be his again. In the end, he is the one who sings her to sleep, who hugs her, who watches out for her.

Dr. Boden is Maisie's plastic surgeon. He prepared her for what was to come. He coached her through the adjustment to her new face. Before the surgery, Dr. Boden was one of the few people Maisie could trust to give it to her straight--to not sugar-coat it or "you're so lucky" it.

Marnie is Maisie's physical therapist. Maisie and Marnie met almost immediately after Maisie's surgery. Maisie has regular visits with Marnie to work on adjusting to her new body's ability. They work from squeezing a rubber ball all the way to running. Maisie later finds out that Marnie is Adam's girlfriend.

Maisie met Adam on her first day at group. Adam sat next to her and attempted to start a conversation. Eventually, they became friends and Maisie realized she had feelings for Adam. Maisie asked Adam to prom and was surprised when he said no. She later found out he said no because he was dating Marnie, Maisie's physical therapist, who was also Adam's physical therapist.
